At the same time, there has long been a considerable gender gap in the STEM work force and in universities teaching STEM subjects. Several questions therefore arise: what can we as societies do to bring more women and girls into science and technology, which perspectives might we be missing when building the technologies of tomorrow, and what can be learned from current best practices all over the world?<\/p>\n

To mark the week of this year’s International Women’s Day, the diplomatic missions of Canada, France, Italy, Sweden and the United Kingdom – in partnership with the Austrian Academy of Science and Women in AI – have the pleasure to invite you to an expert panel discussion on women breaking the frontiers in science. High-level panelists will bring a global perspective on the question of recruiting more women into the STEM disciplines.<\/p>\n

During our morning session, a number of distinguished scientists and role-models will share experiences from their respective fields. This will be followed by a policy discussion that aims to shine a light on where we are and what can be done to address the problem.<\/p>\n

The event will be held in English, will last approximately 2 hours and will be followed by an opportunity for networking over a buffet lunch.<\/p>\n
