The awards of our society have a long tradition. The ÖGAI awards prizes in 2 categories. One category is for outstanding publications: the Karl Landsteiner Prize, which honors excellent work in the field of basic immunological research, and the Clemens von Pirquet Prize for excellent work in the field of allergy research. The second category includes the dissertation prizes, which are awarded for the best scientific doctoral theses in the field of allergology or immunology.
Since 2026, the ÖGAI also awards the Ruth Sonntag Nussenzweig Award, which aims to help counteract the continuing underrepresentation of women and non-binary scientists in senior and independent leadership positions in immunology.
