Thanks to the vision of linking allergology and immunology research in Austria when it was founded in 1971, the ÖGAI has developed into an expert platform that deals with the immune system and its diseases such as allergies and autoimmune diseases. The ÖGAI is also strongly engaged in the scientific training and mentoring of the “next generation” of scientists and doctors.

Dietrich Kraft
On February 28, 2026, our society’s Past President, Full Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and recipient of many prestigious awards and prizes, Prof. emer. Dr. Dietrich (Dietz) Kraft, passed away peacefully after a short illness precipitated by an injury.
