With the vision of linking allergology and immunology research in Austria when it was founded in 1971, the ÖGAI has developed into an expert platform that deals with the immune system and its diseases such as allergies and autoimmune diseases. The ÖGAI is also involved in the scientific training and mentoring of the “next generation” of scientists and doctors.

Honoring mid-career rising female or non-binary immunologists in Austria. Named in tribute to Prof. Ruth Sonntag Nussenzweig, a pioneering leader in immunology and malaria research.
