The DGfI cordially invited journalists to a press conference dedicated to currently relevant topics in immunology, which was also attended by the winners of the German Immunology Award 2020 (Thomas Boehm, Freiburg) and 2022 (Özlem Türeci, Uğur Şahin and Katalin Karikó, Mainz). The meeting will be held under the motto “Basic meets clinical immunology”. Both professional societies aim to bridge basic and clinical science in order to translate knowledge of immune mechanisms as directly as possible into the improvement of various immunotherapies and the prevention of immunodeficiencies. The scientific program offered content of basic and translational immunology in the context of various diseases such as allergy, autoimmunity, cancer, transplantation and infections, of course with special emphasis on COVID-19.
